Local floral cart - Brock Floral

I would like to tell you all about a floral cart I found on Instagram this summer. I had been planning to go see it all summer but couldn't find the right time to do it. And then I finally did it! And wow... I was so amazed when I came to see Brock floral cart during one of the pop-ups in Tsawwassen. The arrangement of all the flowers was absolutely beautiful!

Katrina Brock is the owner of a beautiful floral cart called Brock Floral. She is a born and raised Vancouverite, Registered Nurse and CFO (chief floral officer) of Brock Floral Cart. Specializing in pregnancy and postpartum care, Katrina supports women and families throughout these life-changing events.

I can assure you that you’ll be obsessed with not only fresh cut flowers but dried flowers after seeing Katrina's work. She has the most beautiful, fresh flowers, and the most creative designs.

I admire her work so much, she is a real inspiration to me.

Katrina was kind enough to have some of my questions answered for this blog post. Knowing how busy she is I feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity to interview her.

What prompted you to go into the floral industry?

My floral journey began when I took a local flower arranging workshop. At the time I was a new mom struggling with the demands of motherhood. After attending my first flower workshop, I fell in love with floral design and exploring my creative side. I learned to put myself first and to do what makes me happy. Arranging flowers became a part of my self care routine as a busy mom. At the beginning of the year, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and take a chance with owning a small floral business.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my floral style as whimsical, organic and romantic. I’m obsessed with light coloured and delicate flowers. My arrangements often have that casual look of loose stems and overflowing eucalyptus. Another trend that I love right now is boho styled flowers. You can find me using sun bleached dried blooms mixed with fresh flowers for a low key vibe.

Where do you look for inspiration?

I look for inspiration when I have a moment to spend time in nature. Spending time in nature allows me to be mindful and stimulates my creativity. I love going for walks and seeing the beauty of our surroundings. I get inspired when I see a lush garden and admire the different colours, shapes and textures of flowers.

What do you put your success down to?

I put my success down to having a strong passion for floral design and loving what I do. I truly enjoy meeting new people and helping them build their own bouquet from our mobile flower cart. Also, I’m extremely grateful to have a supportive husband and family who encourage me to follow my dreams.

Fresh flowers won't last for so long, so enjoying them is, of course, a must. But when it comes to decorating my home with dried flowers I am more than happy to do it. It's already a trend, my social media feed is filled with photos of beautiful floral arrangements and ideas about how to decorate your home with dried flowers.

Who wouldn't appreciate a home decorated with beautiful dried flowers that last for years?

The great thing about getting a bouquet of flowers from Brock Floral Cart is that you get professionally arranged flowers that has been expertly selected and coordinated, so they will look absolutely marvelous anywhere you will decide to display them.

I adore my bouquets! Katrina made them look so good, and it fits my new place perfectly.

There are numbers of options when it comes to displaying dried flowers. You can display them in a pretty vase or pitcher, I used a bucket from Michaels. And look how cute it looks next to my mini pumpkins?

I have also places another bucket of purple dried flowers next to my desk, makes my work space look extra cute, Katrina recommended me to use a glass vase for these particular flowers. And she was right! It looks adorable.

I just love being able to support local businesses and this floral cart is a gem. Can't wait to visit Katrina during her next pop up very soon!
